Prabowo Subianto Kagum Dijuluki ‘Pak Gemoy’ Oleh Anak-anak Saat Berkunjung ke Daerah

Jakarta – Prabowo Subianto initially admitted to being confused by the term ‘gemoy’ attached to him while campaigning in various regions in the country. The presidential candidate number 2 felt surprised because he had no idea what ‘gemoy’ meant.
He revealed this experience when filling in the #CloseTheDoor Deddy Corbuzier podcast which was uploaded on Tuesday (13/2). While laughing, Prabowo even mentioned that many children now call him ‘Pak Gemoy’.
“I don’t understand the meaning of gemoy, where did it come from, but it’s okay,” said Prabowo while holding back laughter.
“Since when did you understand the meaning of gemoy, Sir?” asked Deddy curiously.
“Well, I only understood it during this campaign,” Prabowo replied.
“Who was the first person to call you ‘gemoy’, Sir?” asked Deddy again.
“I don’t know. There were some mothers, shouting ‘gemoy’ 1-2 times, and it spread. Even elementary school children, when I go to the regions, (calling) ‘Pak Gemoy, Pak Gemoy’,” said Prabowo.
However, Prabowo admitted that he didn’t mind whatever name the people gave him. Prabowo saw it as a form of public affection.
As for ‘gemoy’, it is an expression that is currently popular in society, especially among young people. The word ‘gemoy’ is a play on the word ‘gemas’ which refers to an expression of something cute and enthusiastic.
In addition to being called ‘gemoy’, Prabowo also said that the public’s annoyance is often shown through pinching and scratching towards him. However, Prabowo didn’t mind at all because for him, these actions were signs of public affection towards him.
“When you go everywhere, it’s always crowded with hundreds of thousands of people. When I see the videos, you are pinched by mothers, pulled, some are scratched, for sure. I’m curious, when you are pinched, do you feel like pinching back?” Deddy said while laughing.
“Getting scratched happens a lot. This is always Betadine,” said Prabowo while pointing to the back of his hand.
“My clothes are pulled, even my pants are sometimes pulled, that’s why the belt has to be tight,” Prabowo said, greeted by Deddy’s loud laughter.
“But I know it’s meant well, I’m also touched. I thought, how come? They are too hopeful from me. I was touched. Maybe they didn’t realize it, they’re just fond,” Prabowo continued.
He admitted feeling very honored to receive the enthusiasm of the people. According to Prabowo, that is what makes him always say thank you to the people in every region he visits.
“That’s why I always say thank you. I always say ‘thank you for coming from far away, standing for hours, waiting for me, wanting to greet me. And when I come, you greet me well’,” said Prabowo. (SENOPATI)
