A group of ministers from the Red and White Cabinet convened at the Merdeka Palace in Jakarta to address the plight of PT Sritex employees who had been laid off. The meeting, chaired by Prabowo, aimed to find solutions for the affected workers. Among those present were Minister of Manpower Yassierli, Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi, and PT Sritex Curator Nurma Sadikin.
During the meeting, Prasetyo underscored the president’s concern for the workers and stressed the need for prompt resolution of the challenges faced by PT Sritex following its bankruptcy declaration in October 2024. The objective is to reemploy approximately 8,000 workers in the textile sector under a new work scheme. Minister Yassierli lauded the curator’s endeavors to facilitate the potential rehiring of former Sritex employees in the coming weeks.
Furthermore, Prabowo’s commitment to extending support and guidance is anticipated to alleviate the struggles of PT Sritex employees affected by the layoffs. The Ministry of Manpower is actively protecting the rights of PT Sritex Group workers by ensuring they receive appropriate compensation for their layoff and other entitlements. The PT Sritex Curator Team is currently in the process of identifying investors to oversee Sritex’s assets through a revamped approach, which will pave the way for reemploying the displaced workers. This initiative aims to stabilize the affected employees and offer a resolution to their current predicament.
