President Prabowo Subianto has shown his confidence in Indonesia’s ability to achieve net-zero carbon emissions on schedule, positioning the country as a pioneer in this field. In a video conference discussing the inauguration of renewable energy development and oil production expansion in East Java, Prabowo emphasized the country’s efficiency in energy generation and efforts to minimize costly logistics chains. Energy independence is crucial for Indonesia’s national sovereignty, and the government’s plan involves launching 55 new renewable energy projects, including geothermal power plants, to provide clean, reliable, and efficient energy throughout the archipelago.
Acknowledging the support from ministries, regulatory bodies, and energy companies like Medco Energi and ExxonMobil, President Prabowo commended their collective effort in assisting Indonesia’s energy transformation. Despite the abundant oil and gas reserves in the country, he stressed the significance of renewable energy, particularly solar power, in ensuring energy self-sufficiency for communities nationwide. Prabowo also expressed optimism for Indonesia’s future, highlighting solar energy as a source of hope for villages, districts, regencies, and remote islands. By embracing renewable energy sources, Indonesia can lead the way towards a brighter and more sustainable future.
