SUARA INDONESIA, NGAWI – Uswatun Nafiatin (51), a resident of Dusun Kaliwowo, Kedunggalar Village/District, Ngawi Regency, East Java, died after colliding with a truck transporting a Kombi. The victim died on the spot due to head injuries caused by getting stuck in the Kombi body.
The incident occurred on Friday (22/3/2024) night around 7:30 p.m., when a truck carrying a Kombi with the license plate AE 8327 JB driven by Yulianto (55), a resident of Kediri, was passing from west to east, precisely on Jalan Raya Ngale-Paron.
Then, speeding from the opposite direction a motorcycle with the license plate AE 3180 JN driven by the victim. It is suspected that the Kombi body protruded too much, resulting in the victim colliding with the iron basket part of the Kombi body.
“My vehicle was slow, the victim was driving very fast, my suspicion is that the victim was dazzled by the light of the car’s headlights behind the truck I was driving, causing the victim to collide with the basket body of the Kombi,” said Yulianto, the truck driver when interviewed by the media.
Yulianto said, the Kombi body wasn’t actually protruding too much, he admitted that he had installed a sign on the Kombi body with a white colored sack. However, because the motorcycle was speeding, and possibly due to human error, the motorcyclist collided.
“I have installed a sign on the Kombi body, the road is bumpy and the Kombi engine is being transported, the truck speed is very slow. It’s fate, accidents cannot be avoided,” he said.
The Head of Ngale Village, Teguh, a witness who helped the victim, said that the victim’s motorcycle was thrown until it entered the rice field area when the incident occurred. The victim’s condition when evacuated was already unconscious.
“Even though wearing a helmet, there was a head injury, a lot of blood came out, when evacuated the victim was unconscious, so I took him to At-Tin Hospital, but his life could not be saved,” said Teguh when confirmed by suaraindonesia.co.id
Teguh revealed, the Ngale road after the Fly Over towards Paron is indeed poorly lit, he asked the Ngawi Regency Government to install street lighting.
“We ask the Ngawi Regency Government to install street lighting on the Ngale-Paron route, because of the lack of lighting, accidents often occur on the road. For residents passing through that road, please be careful,” he said.
As of the time of this news being published, the Ngawi Police traffic department is still identifying the victims, while the motorcycles and trucks along with the Kombi are secured at the Banyakan Traffic Post. (*)
